ML-CIRRUS
March - April 2014
ML-CIRRUS was an aircraft campaign with the new German research aircraft HALO. It was the first HALO mission for our group. ML-CIRRUS aimed for the investigation of natural and aircraft-induced mid-latitude cirrus clouds. The mission was a joint activity of several German research centers and universities. The consortium was headed by DLR, Institute of Atmospheric Physics (DLR-IPA), and included the Research Centre Jülich (FZJ), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (MPIC), Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS, Leipzig), and the Universities of Mainz, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, and Zurich.
The integration phase started in February 2014 and included three scientific test flights on March 21 and 22. The scientific campaign which included 13 research flight lasted from March 24 until April 17, 2014.
