Susanne Benner is head of communications at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry since 2011. She has more than 20 years of experience working in science and industry communications.
Susanne studied biology at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. During her Ph.D. time in organic chemistry at the Swiss Federal University Zurich (ETHZ), she has been working as editor and coordinator of the Swiss University Newspaper “Synthese”. Afterward, she has received a sound education in science communication at the Technoseum – a technology museum in Mannheim, Germany.
From 1997 until 2004 she has been working as a manager for public affairs at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne, Germany, and afterward as head of Communications at BASF Plant Science.
